Google Develops Platform To Group Countries in a Single Feed

What You Need To Know in Less Than 50 Words

Entrepreneurs rejoice! Google Merchant is rolling out a new platform that will enable sellers to promote products in all countries using a single feed. You will no longer need to choose just one country to target your product; you can add all relevant countries in a straightforward step.

    Tell Me More

Google is eliminating the target country field for product sales and instead will include all countries in product promotion and advertising. This means that you will no longer need the fields previously listed as “additional countries” and “primary country of sale.”

The idea of targeting just one country for a feed is an outdated method of promotion, and Google is getting ahead of the trend to be sure businesses get the best results when using their platform.

With these changes, merchants will still be able to update their existing feeds as needed, and any feeds created before the change will still be active. No changes are necessary. This new platform simply changes the organization of the feeds, not the countries already being targeted.

    Flexible & Easy to Organize

Feeds will be more flexible and easier to organize. For example, advertisers will be able to group all countries that speak the same language under one feed. When targeting that group, they will know which language to use. This new flexibility will make the user experience significantly easier.

Merchants already using the “primary country of sale” feature will now be able to specify areas using the 2-letter country code. Searching for countries using this code will make it easier to target countries without too much hassle. It will also expand the reach of many businesses that can’t translate and localize their advertisements.

    Feed Label

Another new feature that is optional for merchants to use is the new Merchant Center Feed setting field. This setting will be entitled “Feed Label.” Feed Label will allow sellers to create a label of their choice, up to 20 characters long, to group together similar items. This will make it easier to target shopping items when creating a shopping campaign.

This new feature will also work well with your current Google Ads campaigns. The program doesn’t require the user to make any changes. With a merchant center feed label, you can target countries and areas of interest using one grouping.

What Does This Change Mean for You?

Users will not need to do anything at all to implement the change. The feed label will automatically set the 2-letter country targeting codes for existing ads. This will ensure that all advertisements remain uninterrupted.
